There are many new students who ask about the pattern of study, about the important Topics and Time. Some students ask about the Topics to be covered as many students do waste their time by going through irrelevant Topics. So this article is mainly for all those students who are new and confused about their study.
First of all i will mention that you have to revise your course “Three” times, so divide your subjects in such an order so that you can manage to revise all your course “Three” times.
Topics to be covered:
Many students are confused about the Topics to be covered, as the course is too much lengthy and there are many irrelevant things that should not be studied. Always try to study all those topics which are somehow related to dentistry. Here i will mention the possible short Topics to be covered
If you are studying Anatomy, you should concentrate more on Head & Neck Anatomy. In Thoracic and Abdominal Viscera try to do Heart and Great vessels, Mediastinum, Thymus, Lungs, Stomach, GIT, liver, Spleen, Small & Large Intestine, Pancrease, Adrenal Glands, Kidneys. Neuro-Anatomy is too much important, so you should do it completely. In General Histology you should do The Cell, Epithelium, Basement Membrane, Connective Tissue, Glandular Tissue, Bone, Cartilage, Joints, Nervous Tissue, Blood, and Endocrine Glands. Most of your time should be for Oral Histology, every thing in Oral Histology should be done. In General Embryology try to do Gametogenesis and Embryology of CNS. Much of your time in Embryology should be for Embryology of Face and Pharyngeal Arches.
Physiology and Biochemistry:
In Biochemistry topics to be covered are Enzymology, Carbohydrates, Proteins, Lipids, Vitamins , Minerals, DNA and RNA. While in Physiology, Membrane Physiology, NeuroPhysiology, Muscle Physiology, Circulatory and Cardiac Physiology, Immunology, Respiratory Physiology, Endocrine Physiology, Renal Physiology and GIT Physiology should be done.
Topics to be covered in Pathology are Microbiology, General Pathology and in special Pathology, Oral Pathology and Microbiology, Immuno-pathology, Developmental Pathology, Dermatopathology, CardioVascular Pathology, Respiratory Pathology, Gastrointestinal Pathology, Blood–Lymphatic Pathology, Endocrine Pathology, Neoplasia, Muscoloskeletal Pathology and Neuropathology should be done.
Topics to be covered in Pharmacology are General Principles, Autonomics, Central Nervous System Drugs, Cardiovascular, Antimicrobials, Endocrine, Analgesics and antihistamines.
Try to do all topics of Dental Materials.
Try to cover it from NBDE.
